8th Grade Promotion Dance theme this year is "Neon/Let's Glow" - Reminder dance is for 8th Grade RCMS students only. Thursday, May 18th from 6-7:30 pm at the Best Western Parkside Event Center. School dress code will be enforced.

Students will be released 4 hours early on Friday, May 5 for school improvement activities. Also, the last day for student attendance for the 2022-23 school year will be Friday, May 19 with a one hour early dismissal.

8th Grade Promotion tickets were handed out today - May 2nd. Each student who is in good academic standing received 5 tickets. If you need more tickets call the office at 395-4372 to be added to a waiting list. If you have an excess of tickets, please return them to the office. Thank you!

RCMS is inviting all students to participate in an optional Summer (5th Block) Program for three weeks in July: July 11-13, July 18-20, and July 25-27 from 9 am to 11:30 am. A snack will be provided daily. Transportation is available upon request. Please pick up a registration packet from the RCMS office and return the packet by May 12, 2023.

Richland County Schools are participating in a class contest to raise money for ERFAE! The class that raises the most money from each school will get their teacher "kidnapped" and will receive a PIZZA PARTY. The class with the best decorated "milk jug bank" will get a special treat from Ginger Ales. All money raised for ERFAE helps fund special projects throughout the year for Richland County Schools. We want to give a shout out to Prairie Farms for donating milk jugs. On April 28th ERFAE will collect the money and photo of all the milk jugs for judging.

We had 3 RCMS students compete in the Regional SIJHSAA Golf match on April 25th. They represented RCMS very well! Owen Cycholl & Austin Smith will advance to State and will compete on May 9th! Pictured - Owen Cycholl, Austin Smith & Jereme Higginbotham.

Ruby Baker, Ryder Knox, Jonah Klingler & Rylee Higginbotham represented RCMS at the 6th Grade Regional Brain Games Competition on April 18th in Ina, Illinois. Great job representing RCMS!

Boys & Girls track pictures are scheduled for Friday - April 21st at 8:30 AM. Please don't forget to bring your uniform! This will be both individual & group pictures.

School will be released one hour early on Thursday, April 6. In addition, there will be no school on Friday, April 7 and Monday, April 10.

Washinton, D.C. Trip Meeting Wednesday - April 12th at 6:00 pm at the Richland County Middle School.

RCHS Cheer Tryouts

We had such a fabulous visit from our One Book author, Wendelin Van Draanen! All students were able to attend a presentation where she discussed how her writing career started and how we need oxygen to breathe life on to the sparks of our dreams in order for them to ignite and take off. A group of lucky students even got to attend a VIP session to talk more with Wendelin and ask some more in-depth questions. A special thanks goes out to the Carrie Winter Grant Foundation and ERFAE for the funding to make this happen, as well as all the help provided by those at the high school and the transportation department.

Don't forget that along with Wendelin visiting with our students today, she and Mark will have their "He said, She said" presentation tonight at 7:00 in the RCPAC located at RCHS. Copies of the 2023 One Book, Wild Bird, will also be available for free to the public. Hope to see you there!

6th graders with good behavior were rewarded with Gross Day activities created by the MathCounts team. The MathCounts team consisting of 7th and 8th graders created a variety of gross activities for our 6th graders to enjoy. Be sure and ask your students what their favorite station was!
