
Brandon Wingert and Evan Gilreath clean the POW MIA chair. This chair can be seen at all the RCHS football field and is in honor of those men and women who are unaccounted for after war. Thank you to the brave men and women who have sacrificed for our country. You are not forgotten.



Mr. Ellison's Construction and Transportation classes have been staying busy. The white truck pictured was donated to his Transportation Tech classes to work on. The construction classes are building model homes to scale. The Intro to Tech and Engineering class is building model bridges after learning about structural engineering

The F/S Football game scheduled against Mattoon on 9/5/24 has been canceled due to injury and ineligibility on Mattoon's end. It will not be rescheduled. Tiger JV Football will play Mattoon on 9/9/24.

Wednesday and Thursday's Soccer tournament at Charleston has been rescheduled due to excessive heat. The tournament will now only be played on Saturday morning with Olney games being at 10:30 and 12:00.

The Tiger Golf game, originally scheduled for today, 8/26, is cancelled.


Eleven Richland County High School seniors earned academic honors from the College Board National Recognition Program. To qualify for the program, students had to earn a GPA of B+ or higher and score in the top 10% of the PSAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test Assessment in the State of Illinois. Check out the RCHS fall athletes at Meet the Tigers on Friday, August 16th at 6:30 p.m. at the RCHS football field. The RCHS Marching Band will start off the night with athletes to follow. The line-up will include: Cheerleaders, Girls' Tennis, Boys' Soccer, Volleyball, Golf, Cross Country, Swimming, and Football. A football scrimmage will be held on the field right after the introductions and then a soccer scrimmage will take place at approximately 7:30 p.m. at the OCC soccer field under the lights. Come out and support ONE TIGER NATION!


RCHS is "All for O'Town" with their new staff shirts. Along with our seasoned staff, we are happy to welcome new staff including (front row) Kelsie Duenas, Jordan Ellison, Lauren Eagleson, Madison Young, (second row) Angela Oliver, Donna Rude, Student Teacher Ryker Erwin, and (fourth row) Kim Fehrenbacher. Retiring teachers ready to start their first day of their last year were (front row) Lisa Pampe, Lisa Billington, Mark Steber, and (right) Rob Flanagan.


The RCHS student parking lot was finished today for the start of school.
The two sections are the west side by Jefferson Street (area closest to Joe’s Pizza) and the east side by Lincoln Street.
Parent drop off/pick up will utilize the west side only. Please enter by Joe’s, swing around to the front, and drop off/pick up your student in the striped area by the sidewalk nearest the front entrance.
Accessible parking will be available on the east side of the lot. Visitor parking is on either side.
Signage will arrive soon. A drone informational video will be added to Facebook along with a drawing parking lot routes. Thank you for your cooperation.

RCHS is excited to welcome students back for the 2024-2025 school year! Back To School Night will be held Monday, August 12 from 6:30-8:30pm.


RCHS Freshmen First will be held Tuesday, August 13, from 8:30-10:30 a.m., in the RCHS Performing Arts Center. All Freshmen and new students will have the opportunity to visit each of their classes, discuss relevant topics, and pick up their Chromebook.


Welcome Back to School Letter!



School is right around the corner! Chromebook pickup AND parking passes will be offered to students from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Auxiliary Gym on the following days this week:
Seniors: Tuesday, August 6th
Juniors: Wednesday, August 7th
Sophomores: Thursday, August 8th
Please use the outside Auxiliary Gym entrance only.
You must be fully registered before you can pick up a Chromebook or purchase a parking pass. Parking permits will only be sold to Sophomores - Seniors ages 16 or older. You must also show your license and know your license plate number.
