March is Music in Our Schools Month and the RCMS bands have been active in representing our program!
All bands recently performed in our spring concert presented to the community. Honor Band students had the opportunity to attend a local jazz concert presented by the EIU Jazz Lab band. Three members performed at IGSMA Solo/Ensemble- Thomas Taylor and Cole Heath took home a good rating with their trombone duet and Gwen Chenault took home an excellent rating on her trombone solo. Several 6th grade band members represented RCMS at the ILMEA Elementary Band Festival hosted at Eastern Illinois University. This weekend, the Honor Band continues the momentum as they travel to Mt. Vernon for the IGSMA Organization Contest.
We're proud of our students' continued dedication and musical growth!

8th Grade Parents/Guardians
Eighth-grade students will be participating in the Illinois Science Assessment (ISA) during the week of March 9–16. The assessment will take place during students’ regularly scheduled science block. Each student will be taking three tests.
The Illinois Science Assessment measures student understanding of the Illinois Learning Standards for Science, including life science, physical science, earth and space science, and engineering design concepts. Each student will be taking three tests. The tests will challenge students to apply critical thinking skills, analyze data, and explain scientific phenomena.
Students are encouraged to come to school each day, be well-rested, and do their best on each section of the assessment. Teachers have been working hard throughout middle school to prepare students with the knowledge and skills needed for success.
We are confident our 8th graders will represent our school well!
